Ten things to do this Summer in Winter Park, Colorado
Visit Winter Park, Colorado
10. Stay at a Nightly Rental
Skip the hotel and stay with a local or book an entire home for your next Winter Park, Colorado vacation. Airbnb, VRBO, and Homeaway are the three biggest online nightly rental websites. We also own a nightly rental company so give us a try first! www.visitwinterparklodging.com
An emerging trend is staying at a local’s house and immersing yourself in the local culture. I wrote about this same topic in “Three reasons to pick a nightly rental“
9. Attend every Weekend Festival
We have lots of music festivals during the summer in Winter Park, Colorado, we also have arts & crafts, chili cook-offs, Whiskey and Wings, chocolate, and many more so just book your lodging for every weekend during the summer.
This is probably the hardest of my list of ten things to do this summer in Winter Park, Colorado. So if you happen to accomplish this feat, email me!
8. Camp at Idlewild Campground
Idlewild campground for a summer music event. Rent a camp space at Idlewild and see a show, you can even stumble home if you’ve had too many beers at the Winter Park Jazz Festival. Just be safe and don’t drink and drive to your camp spot.
One of my favorite places to camp for music festivals is Idlewild Campground, at the south end of the town of Winter Park, Colorado.
7. Hike the Continental Divide
Drive to the top of Rollins Pass late summer and hike on the Continental Divide. There’s some really cool old train trestles still standing up there. Just follow the abandoned railway bed.
6. White water raft the upper Colorado River
Several white water rafting companies base out of Winter Park and Fraser, so you can make a day trip with them and still stay in Winter Park or Fraser. I love the upper Colorado in Early Summer when the water is at higher levels.
5. Longboard the Fraser River Trail
The Fraser River trail is paved from Winter Park Resort to downtown Fraser, Colorado, so ride for over six miles on your longboard and then take the public bus system (The Lift) back for another lap.
Let us know how many laps you get in one day and tag us on social media. We might even share your pics and lap numbers! #itsCOtime #VisitWinterPark
4. Music in the Park
Thursday nights in Winter Park, Colorado. With its new stage set to be completed early summer Hideaway Park, Located Downtown has become a Colorado favorite music venue.
3. Picnic in the Park Fraser
Tuesday nights at the old shool house park, you’ll find the locals hanging out Tuesday nights in Fraser, Colorado for these free music events. With a laid back atmosphere, dogs, kids and some wine, you might make Tuesdays your go to in the summer.
2. Mountain Bike
They don’t call us “Mountain Bike Capital U.S.A. ™” because we don’t bike. With over 600 miles of mountain bike trails in the Fraser Valley and two lift-served bike parks (see above), we’ve got more fun on two wheels than the Tour de France.
1. Downhill Mountain Bike
Trestle Bike Park and Granby Ranch, summer in Winter Park, Colorado. Trestle Bike Park has become a world class bike park with numerous summer events and non-stop fun. Granby Ranch, just down the road from us, also serves up some killer downhill trials and a lift-served mountain bike trail.
There you have it, 10 must-dos this summer in Winter Park, Colorado!
